On the 31st October, Manchester Central opened its doors to over 3,000 midwives for the award-winning RCM Annual Conference 2017.
The conference boasted a two-day programme, chosen by key RCM members of staff. The programme was self-selective, allowing delegates to tailor it to their exact needs, and featured high-profile speakers and sessions on everything from trauma treatment to leadership.
For the first time in its history, the RCM conference was free to attend for all RCM members, a decision made in response to feedback that the cost of previous conferences was prohibitive. As a result, the 2017 conference was even bigger and better, with attendance triple that of previous years.
Of the 2017 conference, Dr Suzanne Tyler, Director for Services to Members at the Royal College of Midwives, said ‘The RCM’s long-standing partnership with Redactive allowed us to listen to the feedback from our members and create an informative, educational and social conference at no cost to our delegates. This allowed the College to engage with more members than ever before and we are already planning for an even bigger event in 2018, with the Redactive team once again at the helm’.
The conference also received glowing feedback from attendees:
- ‘Engaging, motivating and inspiring speakers. Gained a real insight as to how conditions are for those working south of the border. Fantastic selection of speakers’
- ‘Really enjoyable. Accessible to all as free. Please make it free again next year!!!’
- ‘Conference excellent with regards to networking. Very positive environment’
