It’s been just nine months since we announced the beginning of Redactive’s relationship with the Chartered College of Teaching to publish the College’s new journal, Impact – but what a nine months it has been.

Since the launch of Impact, the Chartered College’s membership and the journal’s readership have risen to over 10,000 teaching professionals across the UK. Readers are so impressed with the publication that over 100 have submitted content to be considered for publication since its debut last May.

Earlier this month, every headteacher in England received a special edition of the journal which included articles from previous issues, two posters for the staff room wall, postcards to be shared and assessment tips. 25,000 of these special ‘staff room’ issues were distributed in an effort to raise awareness of the College and support membership growth. A full-page advertisement in the TES trailed its arrival.

Of the journal’s success, Miriam Davey, Head of Publishing at the Chartered College of Teaching said, ‘We are delighted that Impact has been received so positively by our members and are looking forward to the next issue on the science of learning. The special edition, sent to headteachers in January, gave us the opportunity to share a selection of articles from the first two issues of our journal with the wider teaching profession and spread the word about the College as we go into our second year’.

Just a handful of the hundreds of glowing comments from readers include:

  • ‘To colleagues who have not seen a copy of Impact, this is a wonderful resource. Please read, share and refer to with staff’
  • ‘The subject matter is right up my street! Enjoying the latest @CharteredColl Impact Journal very much. @ProfCoe on evaluation and many more great pieces’
  • ‘Hope each headteacher has their copy of @CharteredColl Impact magazine. A great place to start with getting the school more research informed. #SLTchat’
  • ‘Received this today. It is great, cuts to the chase and really accessible! Can’t wait to share with colleagues. Thank you @CharteredColl’.
